Tragic news rocked the Elysian Fields community Friday. LSU-Alexandria outfielder Brandon Goyne died this afternoon after collapsing on the field at baseball practice.
KALB in Alexandria spoke to the local hospital who said that CPR was administered but it was unsuccessful on the 20-year-old former Jacket standout.
He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. In a statement released by the university, campus officials have no further details at this time.
Current Elysian Fields athletic director Eric King was hit hard by the news , since he coached Goyne in high school.
He had this to say... "My prayers and condolences go out to the goyne family. I would ask that everyone keep his family and our community is their prayers. We have lost a very special young man who was loved by many."
