Lady Pilots dominate Centenary in Crosstown Classic
SHREVEPORT, La. - The no. 17 LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots picked up their fifth straight win on Friday night at The Dock crushing the Centenary Ladies 86-54 in the Crosstown Classic at The Dock picking up their first win ever over the Ladies.
LSUS (8-1) dominated the all facets of the crosstown rivalry match up placing five in double figures. Jenna Diakos led all scorers with her fourth double-double of the season pouring 17 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Brittany Maddox came off the bench and provided five made three-pointers to total 15 points in only eight attempts to boost the Lady Pilots field percentage to 44-percent from beyond the arc for the game.
Sharde Henry tossed in a dozen points in only 17 minutes of action while Christy Willis had 11 points and Katie McCoy 10 while Kylie Leonards just missed double figures with 9 points in 17 minutes. The Lady Pilots shot 42-percent from the field while Centenary struggled to make only 28-percent.
The Ladies (1-7) fell behind early and could never catch up with the Lady Pilots dominating and pulled away by as much as 36-points with six minutes to play. The LSUS defense forced 17 turnovers while committing 18 miscues themselves. LSUS took advantage of the Centenary mistakes outscoring the visitors 25-10 off turnovers.
The Lady Pilots dominated on the boards as well collecting 58 compared to CC's 39. Diakos (14) and Carper (11) were the only two collecting double digit rebounds.
The next game for the Lady Pilots will be on Thursday Dec. 13, at SAGU and then they return to The Dock next Saturday, December 15, at 2 p.m. against Wiley College who received votes in the most recent NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll.
