SHREVEPORT, La. -

Exactly 200 Libbey Glass workers will lose their jobs at the end of May. The glass maker claims the layoffs will improve the company's "overall financial position" and those jobs will not relocate to other factories. The company also says it will reduce production capacity in Shreveport and will stop producing certain glassware that's no longer profitable, which is the cause of the layoffs.

"What we've been told is that there are several lines out there that are not selling as they used to due to changes in the market condition," Charles Grubb, the Caddo Parish attorney said. "So, they're going to eliminate those lines."

However, equipment from those lines will be relocated to Mexico and Ohio. Libbey will also realign overall production in North America.
