HOOKS, Tx. -

This week we traveled to Hooks, TX to surprise 5th grade teacher Debbie Ritchie.
Debbie applied for the KTBS 3 grant so she could continue a project that inspired her when she was in 7th grade.

"All of my students are published authors. When I was in 7th grade my teacher had us write a story and then she published them for us. "

Ritchie says that is when she realized how powerful words can be, when she saw her own words in a book and from that point on she wanted to be a teacher so she could inspire others.

"This not only teaches them writing skills but the hope is that by going though this process it will make them want to read more," says Ritchie.
