Amy Vitrano

Amy Vitrano is a Louisiana girl who returned to her home state to work at KTBS3 News in March 2013. She joined the team as the business and consumer reporter, as well as featuring foster kids who need to be adopted in the ArkLaTex Angels segment. Amy now brings her story telling skills to the morning crew as the morning reporter on KTBS 3 First News.

Originally from Slidell, LA, Amy lived in Myrtle Beach, SC where she worked as a reporter and producer at WBTW-TV from 2010-2013. Amy covered breaking news stories such as a 900-acre wild fire to Hurricane Irene, as well everyday stories like citizens fighting for new sidewalks in town and two-local boys trying to win a national jingle competition.

Amy studied broadcast journalism at Louisiana State University. She graduated from the Manship School of Mass Communication a semester early in December 2009. During her time at LSU, Amy was very involved with the on campus television station, Tiger TV. She held positions such as station manager, associate news director, web director, news producer and reporter.

Amy has also had the opportunity to participate in two internships. The first was with CBSNews.com in New York City in the summer of 2008. Her daily routines in New York consisted of syndicating the CBS Early Show, choosing CBS affiliate packages to post on the website and participating in and editing specialty shoots for web exclusives. The following summer, Amy learned the local news side at WWL-TV in New Orleans. There she went out on stories with reporters every day, helped the producers write for the five and six o'clock shows and created stories for the website.

When Amy is not hunting down the next big story, Amy enjoys hanging out with friends, listening to live music and dancing to any and every beat.

She is excited to be apart of the KTBS3 family, and to learn more about Northern Louisiana. If you have some story ideas or tips on places she should visit, do not hesitate to contact her!
