Body Found On Sprague Street Is That Of Iraq Veteran

The body of a woman found in an abandoned house on Sprague Street in Shreveport last week is that of a veteran who did two tours of duty in Iraq, police said this afternoon. The woman has been identified as Stephanie Breaux, 28, of Keithville. Her badly decomposed body was found last Thursday. Authorities believe she had been dead two to four weeks. At a news conference this afternoon, police said Breaux's family had last seen her on March 7. They did not file a missing-person report. Detectives said it was not uncommon for her to leave home for days at a time. Police said Breaux had returned from Iraq in April 2006. They did not know in which branch of service she served. Detectives are reviewing Breaux's cell phone records and talking to her friends to find out who murdered her. An autopsy determined the cause of death but police are not releasing details, nor are they saying if she was killed at the house on Sprague Street just west of downtown. She was identified through her tattoos and dental records.
