Most of the power has been restored in the City of Natchitoches. The utilities director for the city says they only have a few scattered outages. The parish, however, is having widespread outages because of a problem at Valley Electric. The parish of Natchitoches was without electrical power this afternoon, a spokeswoman for the city of Natchitoches said. Weather was a factor but officials did not know specifically what caused such a widespread outage. Leslie Smith said rural parts of the parish had been without power since Monday evening when the remnants of Hurricane Gustav moved in. There had been outages in parts of Natchitoches but this afternoon all the power went out, Smith said. The city of Nat Light rain was falling this afternoon, Smith said. There had been heavy rain and high winds gusts Monday night. About 3,000 homes and businesses were without power in Caddo, Bossier, Red River and DeSoto parishes.
