Cutting the Cord

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT , La -

Many are fed up with their cable providers, bulky cable boxes, and even satellite dishes, but alternative solutions are making their way to the forefront.

New smart devices are changing the way people get their television. The devices range from Sony Google TV players to Roku boxes, which can give you much of the programming you would normally obtain from a cable box. These type of boxes plug into the television with an HDMI cable.

Gaming consoles like the Playstation 3 have evolved over the years so that you can have access to these waves of technology, like Netflix, with the scroll of a joystick.

Instead of subscribing to cable, you can subscribe to different services to deliver the content you want. Services like Hulu streams television shows, which may help save you money.

Hulu and Netflix cost $7.99 a month, while a typical monthly bill from the cable provider runs about a hundred a month.

The wave of the future is streaming and prompting many television viewers to cut the cord on their cable box.
