NATCHITOCHES PARISH -

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies and Natchitoches Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents have arrested two people on felony drug charges in connection with trafficking the highly addictive narcotic, methamphetamine, in Natchitoches Parish according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.

The investigation began on Tuesday afternoon, at 2:45pm, when Deputy Jason Raynes stopped a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck on Fifth Street in Natchitoches for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, deputies learned that the driver, Donovan Tousek's driver's license was suspended, and he appeared to be acting suspicious.

After obtaining permission to search the vehicle and passenger, deputies found a small cellophane bag that contained suspected methamphetamine in which the female passenger had dropped on the ground.

Natchitoches Multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents were called to assist in the investigation.

Agents also seized a bag containing 28-grams of suspected methamphetamine with a potential street value of $2,800 concealed in the shoe of the female passenger.

In addition, deputies also seized 10-suspected hydrocodone pills, and a set of weighing scales during a search of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, 22 year-old Donovan Tousek of Montgomery, La. was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and traffic offenses.

The passenger, Lauren Elizabeth Vercher, 26 of Flora, La. was also booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of CDS Schedule III Hydrocodone.

Vercher was arrested by Drug Task Force Agents during February 2013 in connection with a Clandestine Lab investigation into the illegal manufacturing of Methamphetamine near the Flora community.

Both suspects remain in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center without bond.

Agents say they believe the methamphetamine was intended for distribution in Natchitoches Parish.
