The people of Omaha, Nebraska dusted off their purple and gold welcome mats when the LSU baseball team punched their ticket to the College World Series. This is the Tigers 16th trip to baseball's biggest stage and the folks of Omaha love watching Tiger Nation roll through town with their tailgates and good times.
LSU plans on bringing the party back to Omaha after a 3 year absence, which matches the longest time period between CWS trips for the purple and gold since 1986. And the tigers got it done on all fronts this weekend; dominant pitching, Oklahoma only scored 1 run in their 2 super regional games; stellar hitting, with 16 hits in Saturday's 11-1 victory that sent them to Omaha; and staunch defense, like a steel curtain on the diamond that head coach Paul Mainieri called suffocating.
LSU plays UCLA on Sunday at 7:00 on ESPN2.
