The Marion County Sheriff's Office says that two men drowned over the weekend.
It happened around 8 p.m. Sunday night in a private lake in Jefferson, Texas. Family members told authorities that 32 year-old Daniel Elias Olvera and 33 year-old Juan Andrade Olvera were on a jet ski and a small boat on the private lake when Daniel became distressed and Juan tried to help. Authorities say that they believe both men became too tired to stay above water and drowned. When rescue officials got to the scene, the two victims had already been under water for a lengthy amount of time. Texas Parks and Wildlife, the Marion County Dive Team, volunteers and Champion EMS assisted in the recovery.
The drowning has been ruled accidental.
