MEMPHIS, Tenn. -

In 1991, a seemingly random donation to a local pediatrician started a fundraiser that's grown to become the second single fundraising event for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A pre-fabricated house was donated to Dr. Donald Mack. He approached KTBS with the idea of auctioning the house to raise money for St. Jude.

Since then, the KTBS 3 St. Jude Dream Home has raised more than $24 million dollars to help ArkLaTex children receive free medical care as they battle childhood cancer.

Cities across the nation have adopted the project--building homes and changing lives. The idea has gone international. St Jude is in the process of building a home in Lebanon.

Jan Elkins, Rick Rowe, Jessica Crandall, and Rod White are in Memphis this week, bringing you live reports to highlight the miracles in Memphis made possible by your donations.

This year's KTBS 3 St. Jude Dream Home is currently under construction in the Turtle Creek Subdivision in Benton.

Tickets are one hundred dollars each. Call 1-800-724-2423 for information.

Tickets bought before June 17 are eligible for the Early Bird Prize. It's four-wheeler, courtesy of G and C Honda.

The house is the grand prize in the annual KTBS 3 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. The winner will be announced during a live broadcast on August 11 on KTBS.
