Most people wouldn't say having cancer is a gift. Adam Long is not one of them.
He's been diagnosed with cancer five times in the last 13 years, and says it's been a blessing.
The 24 year old from Bossier City is at St. Jude undergoing treatment for ---a cancer that normally kills most people.
But Adam's doctors tell him this his previous bouts with cancer helped prepare his body for the fight of his life.
"I think if I have five cancers that save me from the one that's supposed to kill me, the sixth one, then that is a blessing so God gave me cancer to save me from cancer," said Long.
Donations to the KTBS 3 St. Jude Dream Home pay for free medical care for Adam and hundreds of ArkLaTex patients each year.
The house is currently under construction in the Turtle Creek Subdivision in Benton. It's valued at $350,000 and features four bedrooms, three and a half baths and an outdoor kitchen.
Tickets are $100 each. Call 1-800-724-2423 for information.
Tickets bought before June 17 are eligible for the Early Bird Prize. It's a four-wheeler, courtesy of G & C Honda.
The winner of that prize will be announced in July. All ticketholders have a chance to win the KTBS 3 St Jude Dream Home. The drawing will take place during a live broadcast on August 11.
