Combating Bullying

BOSSIER CITY, La. -

The family of a Bossier Parish School student is stepping out from behind their sorrow in an effort to help combat bullying. Their son, Zdor "TZ" Blanc, committed suicide on May 15th of this year. Blanc was a student at Elm Grove Middle School. His parents say he was the a victim of bullying.

"It wasn't until he came home with a black eye that he wasn't able to hide it anymore and he was very embarrassed to tell me that a girl had hit him and that it had been going on for sometime," says his mother Jennifer Blanc.

This coming weekend, June 15th, on TZ's 14th birthday a Bullying Seminar and Benefit will be held in memory of the 13 year old.

It will be at 8841 Kingston Road in Shreveport,LA. The seminar is free and will include tips for parents as well as a few self defense lessons for students.

    A unanimous vote today by the Bossier City Council will bring some changes to Walker Place park which is located by the Century Link Center. The vote means an extra 1.8 million dollars is approved for it, which translates to a very nice state of the art park.Cooperatively building the park with U.L. Coleman companies was one of the provisions of a lawsuit settlement between the development firm and the city. The park will cost a total of 2.8 million dollars
