One Class at a Time

Posted: Updated:

It was at the elementary school in  Doyline  where  we met Shamekia Cooper

The Webster Parish teacher was more than a little shocked when we surprised her with a check for a thousand dollars.

Cooper applied for the "One Class at a Time" grant so she can better help her 3rd  graders prepare  for the LEAP and I-LEAP test.

"It's a critical year  because of the testing," says Cooper.

Cooper plans to use the money to buy helpful tools her students can use next school year.

"My class needs  a lot of things like calculators and reading materials that will help my struggling students learn to read better," says Cooper.
