Texarkana, Texas authorities have arrested a suspect they think is responsible for a hit and run that involved a police officer.

It happened at Grady T. Wallace Park in Texarkana, Texas early Friday morning,  following a disturbance involving more than 100 people.

Authorities say officer William Sprague was the first officer on the scene.

As Officer Sprague was attempting to make contact with one of the vehicles leaving the scene, he was struck by this vehicle.

Officer Sprague was transported to a local hospital with injuries to his upper body and head.

On Friday, authorities arrested 21 year-old Justin Sanders of Texarkana, Texas. Sanders was arrested at the Bi-State Justice Center. Bond for Sanders is set at $1.5 million.

Officer Sprague remains in critical condition. Officer Sprague has been employed with the Texarkana Texas Police Department since January of 2012.
