Ruptured pipe that flooded neighborhood fixed

Posted: Updated:

The 24 inch water pipe that blew out Saturday in Shreveport's Allendale community has been repaired. The rupture sent water rushing downhill for about two blocks before pooling and flooding a home. City officials say 70 homes went without water while repairs were made. Unfortunately, a small leak appeared at the repair site and water will be turned off again Monday to do final repairs. A Saint Mary's Church official says three to four inches of water rushed into their basement. The city is helping them and others cleanup and dry out. There is not an exact count to how many properties suffered damage. The exact cause of the blowout hasn't been decided either. City officials hope to learn more Monday.
