All four suspects in jail for murder at American Inn in Tyler

Update:

All four suspects wanted for the murder of a Tyler, Texas man are now in police custody.

On Wednesday, Tyler Police arrested Michael Tekielleon Browning at the America's Best Value Inn located at I-20 and Hwy. 155 North. Browning was the last of four suspects at large wanted for the Capital Murder of Wesley Lester.

 


 

Another person is in custody who was wanted in connection with a murder that happened in Tyler, Texas.

On Tuesday, Broderick Lavar Smith was arrested by Tyler Police Investigators at the Police Department. Smith was the fourth remaining suspect that investigators were working on obtaining an arrest warrant for Capital Murder.

Investigators have still not located Michael Tekielleon Browning, who is the only suspect still at large on this Capital Murder case.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Browning is urged to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF. Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.

 


 

Update:

On Monday, June 24, Lawrence Murphy turned himself in to Tyler Police Investigators at the Police Department. Murphy was believed to have fled to the Dallas area after he was wanted by police for the murder of Wesley Lester on June 15th.

Investigators have also identified two more suspects in the American Inn homicide case. Investigators have issued an arrest warrant for the third suspect, Michael Tekielleon Browning, of Tyler, for Capital Murder.

The identity of the fourth suspect is being withheld pending an arrest warrant being issued.

 


Update:

On Friday, Tyler Police issued an arrest warrant for a second suspect, Darian Pilkington, in connection with the June 15th murder of Wesley Scott Lester. The crime happened at the American Inn in Tyler, Texas. Judge Kennedy signed the warrant for Capital Murder and set the bond amount at $750,000. Pilkington turned himself in to authorities on Friday around 4 p.m.

Lawrence Charles Murphy Jr. is also a suspect in the homicide. A warrant charging Murphy Jr. with murder has been signed with Judge Jack Skeen and bond on the warrant is set at $1,000,000. Murphy Jr. is approximately 5'8" tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has access to a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice bearing Texas license place CX3G877.

Since a firearm was used, Murphy Jr. is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous.


Victim identified in Tyler murder - 6/17/2013

Tyler investigators have identified the victim who was murdered over the weekend. It happened on Saturday at the American Inn Motel in Tyler, Texas just after 4:30 p.m. The victim is identified as Wesley Scott Lester of Tyler.

Investigators believe that Lester was involved in the sale of narcotics in his motel room before he was killed. Surveillance video from the motel shows that four black male suspects walked onto the motel property and approached the victim's room. Two suspects entered Lester's room while the two other suspects stayed outside as lookouts. After gunfire erupted and Lester was shot, all four suspects ran from the scene towards West Erwin Street.
