Caddo Commissioners discuss pay raise

Posted: Updated:

Some Caddo Commissioners are recommending they get paid $6,000 more a year. The raise was brought up during the personnel, policy and procedures committee meeting after Monday's work session. Commissioners are currently making around $22,000 a year. That makes them the highest paid elected officials in the parish. The committee voted to bring the issue to the full commission sometime later on this year. On top of the raise, starting a health insurance plan was discussed. While the commission can vote to give themselves raises without voter approval, the raise doesn't automatically kick in. Instead, it starts at the beginning of a new term.
