Arrest made in death of toddler

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -

An arrest has been made in connection with the investigation into the death of a Shreveport toddler.

Just after 11:00 p.m. June 18, 2013, Shreveport Police Violent Crimes investigators arrested a Shreveport woman in connection with the death of a three year old toddler who was pronounced deceased on Monday evening after arriving at the emergency room of LSUHSC.  The toddler, identified as three year old Rizcheir Muskelly, was left in the care of 32 year old Tarika Wilson, who reportedly brought the toddler to LSUHSC advising staff that the toddler was unresponsive.  Officials at LSUHSC contacted Shreveport Police, who immediately launched an investigation.

During the course of the ongoing investigation, detectives were presented with preliminary autopsy results that suggest Muskelly died as a result of blunt force trauma.  Authorities, upon conducting follow up interviews with Wilson were able to develop her as a suspect in the death of Muskelly and have since charged her with Second Degree Murder.  Wilson was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
