One Class at a Time Winner

Posted: Updated:

It was at Stockwell Place Elementary where we met Karen Cervenka  or Ms. C as her students call her.

The Bossier Parish teacher was a little shocked when we surprised her with a check for a thousand dollars.

Ms. C,   applied for the "One Class at a Time " grant so she could better help her students improve their reading skills

"I found a program online called the listening program," says Cervenka.

The grant will allow her to buy the equipment needed to run the program which will help her students better understand not only what they are reading and trying to comprehend but also how they express themselves.

Drivers would have to secure dogs riding in truck beds while on interstate highways, if the Senate agrees to a bill backed by the House. The House voted 53-34 Tuesday to pass the proposal by Republican Rep. Thomas Willmott, of Kenner. Drivers could secure dogs with a crate, leash or a ventilated bed cover, under the bill.
