Police Shooting-Little Rock,Prosecutors rest case in former LR policeman trial

Posted: Updated:

Prosecutors have rested their case against a former Little Rock police officer accused of killing a 15-year-old boy while investigating a car-burglary report.

Josh Hastings was charged with manslaughter after Bobby Moore III died last August. Hastings has said he felt threatened by Moore, who was driving a car, but prosecutors say the officer was reckless when he fired his weapon.

The state rested Thursday after a pathologist said one bullet clipped one of Moore's fingers and entered his chest, while another entered the left side of Moore's head a couple inches above the ear, consistent with claims that Moore was looking over his shoulder as he sat behind the wheel.

Defense lawyer Bill James says there are flaws in the witness accounts and that physical evidence was misinterpreted.
