Posted: Updated:
LOUISIANA -

The Bossier Parish Police Jury Director of Public Safety, Sammy Halphen, announced that beginning Friday, June 21, the Old Highway 71 bridge located 0.9 miles south of Smith Road will be closed permanently. Halphen says that the bridge is no longer used for vehicle traffic and is in disrepair.

Motorist traveling around Bossier City are also advised that beginning Monday, June 24, one lane on Airline Drive between Barksdale Boulevard (US 71) and Texas Street (US 80) will be closed for concrete patching. The work will require lane closures but only one land will be closed at a time. The patching work is expected to last one month.

On Monday, June 24, in Red River Parish, the LA 507 bridge, over creek near Womack which is located about 0.1 miles south of LA 514, will be closed for five days for piling repairs. Motorist are being asked to detour using LA 786, US 371, LA 514 and LA 507.

Please remember to drive with caution through any work zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

If you drive down St Vincent Avenue you'll notice Mall St Vincent is getting a makeover. Officials say the re-investment into Mall St Vincent saved the mall from closing down which would have left the city and this neighborhood with an empty shell of a mall left behind.
