DeSoto Parish, La -

The identity of a man killed in an overnight wreck has been released.

It happened just before 11:30 Tuesday night on U.S. Highway 84 west of Mansfield in DeSoto Parish.

A preliminary investigation reveals that a 2002 Chevrolet truck driven by 34 year-old David Lovett of Logansport, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 84 at a high rate of speed. Police believe that Lovett lost control of his vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway. Lovett's truck went through a ditch, struck a culvert and began overturning.

State Police say that Lovett was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from his truck. Lovett suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to DeSoto Regional Hospital where he died.
