TEXARKANA, Ark. -

The Texarkana Arkansas School District is moving forward with its first ever charter school.

The Washington Academy Charter School will open this Fall with a student body of about 120.

The new charter school plans to offer ninth through 12th grade education and will have a class-size ratio of 10-to-1.

School officials say the charter campus will have the same curriculum as a traditional high school and will be held to the same state standards.

Applications to enroll in the charter school are being accepted now.
