Sports is such an important part of Louisiana culture and this weekend the Pelican state celebrates over half a decade of success when they open the doors to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame museum Friday. The opening of the 23 million dollar, 27,500 square foot facility will usher in a new class of Louisiana sports legends on Saturday.
Five of the 11 inductees this year gathered in Natchitoches Thursday to start off this weekend's festivities. On hand was LSU's Tommy Hodson, Grambling's Jimmy Jones, UNO's Ervin Johnson, Bossier jockey Ronald Ardoin, and LSU's Kevin Mawae. It's not only such a big weekend for the Sports Hall of Fame museum, but also for these 11 inductees, whose impact on Louisiana is immeasurable, but in their eyes, not as influential as the state has been on their own lives.
