The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame will reveal it's brand new million dollar museum Friday that will house the greatest moments in the Pelican state. But this weekend is also about the ten heavyweight inductees in this Class of 2013, highlighted by one of the greatest LSU athletes, Shaquille O'Neal.
And can you dig it? The Shaq attack will be on hand tomorrow at the museum's grand opening. O'Neal has become a household name in the sports world, but it all started in a purple and gold uniform. Shaq went up against one of his fellow classmates, UNO legend Ervin Johnson, who earned great respect for his fellow NBA player when they got up close and personal on the court.
A couple more LSU greats will also be cemented into the hall this year, offensive lineman Kevin Mawae and quarterback Tommy Hodson. Mawae left LSU and became one of the best offensive lineman in the NFL for 16 seasons.
But the Leesville, Louisiana native may not have even become a Bayou Bengal if it wasn't for Tommy Hodson. The former LSU gun slinger is best known for his performance in the Earthquake Game, a moment of LSU folklore that ranks up there with Billy Cannon's run and Bert Jones' touchdown. The fourth down, final minute score gave LSU the 7-6 win over Auburn that made the crowd roar so loud it registered on the Richter scale.
