Minden Mayor Dies

The Arklatex is mourning the loss of one of a long-term, local mayor.

Bill Robertson, Mayor of Minden, died Wednesday.

The 75-year-old Democrat was roughly two months into recovery after undergoing back surgery in April.

He was serving his sixth term as mayor.

Robertson's term would have expired at the end of next year.

Funeral arrangements have been made for Mayor Robertson.

Visitation will be held at Eastside Baptist Church on Germantown Road in Minden from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church.

 Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory located on Hwy 159/Lewisville Rd, Minden. Services are entrusted to Hill Crest Memorial.

His term was set to expire Dec. 31, 2014.

Councilman Joe Cornelia will serve as mayor pro tem until an interim mayor is appointed to fill the position.

A special election will be held in October.
