Victim of Bullying Remembered

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT , La -

Friends and family gathered to remember a local teen who's life ended too soon as the result of bullying. 10 year old Sydney Loux lost her big sister Katlin to bullying. "She meant the world to me, and I always told her jokes and she would laugh. I loved her smile and how she was always sweet to me when I did something wrong," Sydney said.

Now, friends and family gather in Katlin's honor to break a sweat to help raise awareness with a zumbathon at the local YMCA. Katlin's mother Evelyn says the bullying statistics are staggering and they're doing all they can to make a difference. "We're raising awareness among, not just Shreveport Bossier but we want to let the nation know that there are thousands of children being hurt... everyday, just because of bullying. One word hurts... One word can do so much damage."

Niki Thrower came out to support because she says it's important to highlight the issue for parents and kids. "It opens that communication line, if they're having problems themselves or if they know someone who's having problems."

Evelyn Break-Loux is Katlin and Sydney's mom. She said, "Katlin was a talented smart funny witty gifted musician who just like all of us was trying to make her way in this world. This has just got to stop, and that's what we're trying to do."
