Young Marines of Bossier Parish Graduation

Posted: Updated:

The 27th class of young marines of Bossier Parish graduated Saturday.

This group has recently come under fire from the Department of Justice saying the obligation chant by the young marines is prohibited by law because it refers to god.

Sheriff Julian Whittington plans on continuing the programs as is.... Not giving into the pressure of the federal government.

"This is not about any one particular religion I don't see how that could offend anybody and we have taken a stand and we are going to keep it in our program with or without any federal funds," said Sheriff Whittington.

Many community members and parents have rallied behind the sheriff. Sheriff Whittington is confident in the program citing a number of graduates and not one complaint.
