Holiday Springs Water Park prepares to open

Posted: Updated:
TEXARKANA, Ark. -

Get your swimsuits, sunscreen and beach towels ready, one of the largest water parks in Arkansas is opening their doors Tuesday, July 2nd.

While the Holiday Springs Water Park in Texarkana is opening up for business, some of the park is still undergoing some construction.

After six-months of construction, the 15 acre water park in the Crossroads Business Park is almost complete.

"Normally we'll open up in May, but due to the rain we've had it's pushed our construction back a little bit, said Darrell Magee, Aquatic Director.

Magee says attractions at the park will include the state's largest wave pool, a leisure pool for children, a splash pool for toddlers, a lazy river, and several water slides.

While Dr. Hiren Patel invested more than $10 million in the park, the city owns the parking lot.

The city has pledged about $800,000 toward the project.

While half of the parking lot is complete, Mayor Wayne Smith says they're waiting until after the park opens to see if there is even a need for the other half.

City officials say the park will bring in great economic benefits with visitors stopping in Texarkana from all over the Ark-La-Tex.

Magee says they've also hired nearly 150 people.

Park officials say the adult swimming pool and one of children's play areas is still under construction, but they say the park will still open.

Hours for operation for the park will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Prices for those 48 inches and taller will be $26.99 daily, below 48 inches will be $21.99, and a senior citizens pass for those 65 and older will be $21.99 daily.

Children 24 months old and younger are admitted free.
