Police: Teenager lops off man's ear lobe

Posted: Updated:

Police say a teenage boy who recently moved to Slidell because his brother wanted to give him a better life has been charged with attempted second-degree murder in a machete attack on his brother's friend.

Slidell police tell The Advocate they answered a call Thursday night and found the 31-year-old victim with a lacerated neck and the suspect standing in the street holding a 28-inch machete.

Police say the two had argued for unknown reasons, and the juvenile grabbed a machete and allegedly attacked the man from behind, chopping off his right ear lobe and narrowly missing his carotid artery.

The victim was treated at a hospital and is recovering from his injury.

Police have not released the name of the victim.
