Ala. man wins Miss. casino jackpot

Posted: Updated:

An Alabama man has won a $1.5 million jackpot playing the Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi.

The Sun Herald reports that Charles Rhodes of Woodville, Ala., had been playing the penny slot for about 10 minutes Tuesday when he hit the winning combination on the progressive machine.

Rhodes says the machine is his wife's favorite so they always play it.

The recent retiree says he can now enjoy his retirement more with his family, including six grandchildren.

IGT technicians and officials with the Mississippi Gaming Commission verified the win.

It is the third multimillion-dollar jackpot to hit at Hard Rock Biloxi. A Biloxi man still holds the record for the largest Progressive Jackpot win -- $14 million on Wheel of Fortune.
