Major construction to begin on Bossier's Wemple Road

Posted: Updated:
Benton, La. -

Major construction begins Monday on Wemple Road between Old Brownlee Road and Airline Drive in Bossier Parish. The work also will encompass drainage to the area. The project will be in three phases and last about 150 days, according to Sammy Halphen, director of public safety for the Bossier Parish Police Jury.

First phase: From July 8 to Aug. 26 crews will close the outside southbound lane of Airline Drive, along with the intersection of Wemple Road at Airline Drive.  All access points to the Exxon station will be open.  Access to Bossier Federal Credit Union and The Reserve at Bossier City Apartments will be from the west on Wemple Road only.

Second phase: From Aug. 27 to Oct. 15, crews will begin the reopening of the outside southbound lane of Airline Drive in front of the Exxon station, but the intersection of Wemple  at Airline  will remain closed.  A short section of Wemple Road will be reconstructed.  The Wemple Road access points to the Exxon station and the Bossier Federal Credit Union will be closed.  Access to these businesses will be from Airline Drive only.

Third phase:  From Oct. 15 to Dec. 4 crews will close and reconstruct the remaining portion of Wemple Road.  The Wemple Road and Airline Drive intersection will be opened as well as all access points for the Exxon station and Bossier Federal Credit Union.  Access to The Reserve at Bossier City Apartments will be from Airline Drive only due to Wemple Road being closed just past the intersection.
