Authorities say a Houston woman charged with child endangerment after placing her 2-year-old daughter in the middle of a street may have been suffering suicidal thoughts.
Houston police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said Friday that 23-year-old Selina M. Lee was arguing with others along a North Houston street. Lee then placed the child in the street and walked away.
Silva says people who witnessed the incident Wednesday ran to retrieve the baby and later flagged down a passing patrol officer, who arrested Lee.
State Child Protective Services was contacted to investigate the matter.
Lee remained in the Harris County jail Saturday on a $5,000 bond. She has a court date scheduled for Monday.
Online court records do not indicate an attorney for Lee.
