Give the gift of life at KTBS 3 Mash Bash

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La. -

Lauren Tigges is going home after more than two months in the hospital. She survived a severe car crash on April 22.

"I flipped my car over five times. Doctors didn't think I was going to make it. Once they realized I was, they didn't think that I would keep my arms, but here they are," said Tigges.

After 25 surgeries, each one requiring blood, Lauren is home from the hospital and hoping to get back to work.

Her father, Danny Fogger, has been with her every step and move along the long journey to recovery. He's documenting it for friends all over the world.

"It scared me. I immediately felt distress, because I felt there's a chance she may die. She's my only child and she's a daddy's baby,"
 said Fogger.

As news spread of Lauren's accident, blood donations came pouring in from work colleagues and strangers.

"Immediately we started getting phone calls. My cell phone just literally blew up. It spread like wildfire," said Fogger.

That fire has kept Lauren and Danny going and now they're hoping to spread the flame of giving blood.

"It's not hard. It's really not. Nobody can ever take that away from you that you actually sat down, put your arm out and gave someone the gift of life," said Fogger.

KTBS 3's Mash Bash is the perfect way to give back to people like Lauren.

One donation can save up to four lives with the blood you share.

Blood centers throughout the Ark La Tex are running low on supplies for the summer.

If you'd like to get involved, KTBS 3 Mash Bash runs July 10-11 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
