Jason McElwain inspires at NSU basketball camp

Posted: Updated:
NATCHITOCHES, La. -

Earlier this week, the Northwestern State basketball camp hosted a very special guest, viral basketball sensation Jason McElwain.  You may remember him by his story, a high school team manager who went into the game on Senior night and the rest was history.

In that contest, he shot 6 three pointers in 4 minutes and captured America's attention.  The NSU campers had the chance to spend the week with McElwain who overcame all odds to now become a basketball coach.  He was diagnosed with Autism at 3 and a half and told he wouldn't even be able to talk.

And when he did speak to the campers, his message was all about being a good teammate. McElwain even got the chance to work out the Northwestern State basketball players, which was a huge honor for him as he pursues his dream of becoming a college coach.
