Two men booked in death of Doyline man

WEBSTER PARISH, La. -

A Doyline man has died from injuries sustained during a beating and charges on his assailants have been upgraded from aggravated battery to manslaughter.

Luke Ferguson, 26 of Minden and a 17 year-old from Doyline have were booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on manslaughter charges.

The victim, William Turner Sheppard, 32, was injured Wednesday night when the 17 year-old allegedly struck him twice on the back of the head.

Sheppard was airlifted to a Shreveport hospital where he later died.

Manslaughter carries a sentence of up to 40 years in prison. No word on whether Ferguson or the teenager have attorneys.
