Baton Rouge, La. - Wednesday, just a day before leaving for the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, three LSU baseball players learned of their latest prestigious award.

Senior first baseman Mason Katz, sophomore pitcher Aaron Nola, and freshman shortstop Alex Bregman were all named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's first-team All-American list.

Cal State Fullerton was the only other team with multiple players on the list.  LSU has produced 26 first-team all-Americans in its history.

Katz was drafted in the fourth round of the MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.  Nola will be eligible for the draft in a year while Bregman still has two full seasons left before he becomes draft eligible.
