Victims identified in Mooretown triple homicide

Posted: Updated:
SHREVEPORT, La -

The search is on the person(s) responsible for a triple murder in Shreveport's Mooretown area.

It happened around 9:45p.m. Thursday at a home in the 4900 block of Gloria Drive.

The victims have been identified as 78-year-old Irene Ellison, 41-year-old Carise Ellison and 58-year-old Brian Wilson.

Residents in this part of Mooretown say word of the slaying is shocking, in their usually quiet neighborhood.

"It's just wild. I can't, I don't have an explanation for it. I was wondering what could have happened because you usually don't see too many police in this area at all," says neighbor Derek Smith.

Other neighbors on Gloria Street say the family often walked to a nearby store but that they usually kept to themselves.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, a family member found the three victims deceased in different rooms of the house.

While authorities initially believed the victims might have been shot, further inquiry by officials with the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office revealed they had each been stabbed at least once.

Detectives and crime scene investigators worked through the night to gather as much evidence as possible at the home in the hopes of gaining any lead that may shed some light on who's responsible for this heinous crime.

"Those detectives, the men and women who work in that unit, will literally go without sleep, without food, to do whatever it takes to identify the person or persons responsible for this heinous crime," says Bill Goodin, with the Shreveport Police Dept.

Anyone with information is asked to call Shreveport-Caddo Crimestoppers at 318-673-7373.

Shreveport finished the first half of the year averaging two homicides per month, with this latest murder bringing the city's total to 16.

Thursday night's slayings have doubled that rate, including the week-old shooting death of Jock Maurice McKinney, 50, in the 5600 block of Kennedy Drive.
