Omaha, Ne. - After losing their opening game to UCLA, LSU is on the brink of elimination.  The Tigers spent Monday refocusing and preparing for the immediate challenge ahead: North Carolina on Tuesday.

"We have sayings in our program that we constantly are putting into their heads," head coach Paul Mainieri said at practice Monday.  "You analyze a loss or you celebrate a victory until midnight.  What is the significance of midnight?  Midnight starts a new day."

Senior first baseman Mason Katz also spoke with confidence about the team's mindset "We were just on an eight game win streak in the postseason playing against the best teams in the country, through the SEC tournament, against Arkansas, Alabama, and Vanderbilt and then play our tough regional and then take two games from the best pitchers in the country so we were just on an eight game win streak.  If we would have swept through this tournament, that would have been a 13-game win streak to end the season.  That's not very easy to do so it was bound to happen and I'm glad it happened then to where now we can get back on our horse."

The Tigers will send sophomore Cody Glenn to the mound for the first time since his suspension during the NCAA Regionals.  North Carolina will counter with freshman Trent Thornton who has an ERA of 1.28 and an 11-1 record.  First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
