Funeral set for 6-year-old stabbing victim

Posted: Updated:
DONALDSONVILLE, La -

Large photographs of 6-year-old Ahlittia North were displayed on easels near her small coffin at the Christian Assembly Church in Gonzales.

WWL-TV reports that Donalsonville Primary School principal Mary McMahan described Ahlittia during the funeral Monday as a model student and a loving child who liked to give hugs.

The child was stabbed to death after disappearing from her mother's suburban New Orleans apartment more than a week ago.

She was to be buried at the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Donaldsonville, where her father and stepmother live.

Ahlittia disappeared after she was put to bed on the night of Friday, July 12. Her body was found in a trash bin near the apartment three days later.

Twenty-year-old Matthew Flugence has been booked in her death.
