Explo Systems Inc. faces Camp Minden eviction

Posted: Updated:
CAMP MINDEN, La. -

It's been one of those good news, bad news weeks for Explo Systems.

KTBS first reported Tuesday that the State Police agreed to allow the Camp Minden-based company to continue operations with a number of stipulations that are still being reviewed by a state judge.

However the Louisiana National Guard, which oversees Camp Minden, is seeking to evict Explo, citing thousands of dollars the state is owed for almost $800,000 in back rent and another half million dollars in damaged property. The petition for payment and eviction was filed this week in Webster Parish.

Explo was the site of a fall 2012 explosion that set off weeks of efforts to inventory, remove and secure millions of pounds of improperly stored explosives.

Six key managers of the company still face criminal charges for a variety of charges related to the improper storage.
