Graham entering contract year not thinking about leaving

Posted: Updated:
Metairie, La -

Saints tight end Jimmy Graham is entering a contract year which became a big topic at the second day of training camp. Still working off his rookie contract, Graham is in line for a huge payday. Graham has already become a rising star, but says his relationship with quarterback Drew Brees is so strong he wants the only quarterback he's ever had to keep throwing to him.

Graham played four years of basketball at Miami, then one year of football before the Saints made him a third round pick. For Graham, who comes from a background of having grown up alone in foster homes after having been left by his mother, with whom he has re-established a relationship, the relationship with Brees and the Saints is very important.

Graham will get his money, even if the Saints, who already have more money committed next season than any other team, are unable to get a long term deal under the salary cap. If no new deal gets done, the saints could use the franchise tag on Graham. Bottom line, it is highly unlikely Graham will play anywhere but New Orleans next season.
