Where there's a Will, there's a way

Metairie, La -

Will Smith spent his first nine seasons with the Saints as an every down defensive end with significant pass rushing skills.  Smith has 67.5 sacks, including a career high 13 in the Super Bowl season of 2009.  But with the Saints shifting to a 3-4 defense under new coordinator Rob Ryan, Smith has shown why he is one of the special leaders in a special locker room.

The former first round draft pick agreed to take a substantial pay cut and change positions to stay with the team.  The long time end is now an outside linebacker.  Smith is said to have lost around ten pounds and will now rush the passer without having his hand on the ground.  Of course, he will also find himself in pass coverage much more than before, but Will Smith remains a key player on the Saints as he enters his tenth season.
