Board to announce new superintendent of Caddo Parish school system

Posted: Updated:
CADDO PARISH, La. -

The Caddo Parish School Board is preparing to announce the new superintendent for the school district.

President Larry Ramsey has also called a special session for 6:00 p.m. Monday in the board room.

Last week, the Caddo School Board interviewed the top three applicants this week.

The board selected Mary Nash Robinson, John Dilbert and Agnella Perera as their top choices.

Mary Nash Robinson told KTBS 3 News that she is ready to be the next leader of Caddo schools. Robinson also claims to know the needs of the district better than anyone else.

John Dilworth says he's no stranger to Caddo schools. Dilworth spent more than two decades working for the Caddo School Board before leaving in 2003. Recently, he worked as the Superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish Schools and retired from that position this past year. After gaining more experience,Dilworth says he feels he has the tools needed to be the next leader.

Agnella Perera is a native of Lake Charles but has family in the Shreveport area. She has spent most of her professional life working in Virginia. She is currently the Superintendent in Isle of Wight County Schools in Smithfield, Virginia. She has also worked in Houston, Texas, as the School Improvement Officer/ Area Superintendent.

The board spent the latter part of last week discussing salaries and contracts with the three finalists.

Assignment Education reporter Eric James will provide live coverage of the big announcement Monday evening.
