Vaccaro a big hit at Saints camp

Posted: Updated:
Metairie, La -

The Saints safeties ranked last in the NFL last season in terms of production as the team's defense as a whole allowed more yards than any team in history.  That's one of the reasons the Saints drafted Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro in the first round.  During this first week of training camp and Vaccaro's first practice in pads, he delivered many big hits.

Head coach Sean Payton likes the rookie's enthusiasm and aggressiveness, but also understands how a rookie likes to make a good first impression and is sometimes over aggressive.  Payton says the coaches need to help Vaccaro find that fine line between hard hitting that's good and hard hitting that can lead to penalties.
