Two separate shootings keep Shreveport Police investigators busy overnight

Posted: Updated:

Shreveport Police detectives are investigating two separate shootings that sent two men to the hospital.

Just before 10:30 p.m. July 30, 2013, officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Acorn Street. On officer's arrival at the scene, they located the victim, 21 year old Demontra Robinson suffering what appeared to be an apparent gunshot wound to the right leg. Robinson was transported from the scene via ambulance, with injuries that were initially thought to be life-threatening.

It would later be learned that Robinson's injuries were less severe than first thought and he is expected to recover.

Investigators responding to the scene of the crime, gathered information that suggests Robinson may have been involved in a dispute with a group of men that turned physical.

It was reported to authorities that during the altercation, a suspect was said to have opened fire on Robinson from a vehicle which description was not readily available.

Police say suspects, who are still outstanding, were observed fleeing the scene of the shooting.

About an hour later, authorities responded to reports of a second shooting which was said to have occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Desoto Street.

Police and Violent Crimes investigators were called to Willis-Knighton's North location relative to a man identified as 24 year old Arthur Burgess, arriving in the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his arm and hip.

Investigators learned that Burgess was walking in the 3100 block of Desoto Street when he reported hearing multiple gunshots.

Burgess, who was transported to the hospital by private auto, could not provide authorities with any additional information about a possible suspect.  Burgess was later transported to LSUHSC for further medical treatment; he is expected to recover.

Authorities are actively investigating both shootings and are working to identify and apprehend those persons responsible.

Anyone with information about either of the crimes is urged to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
