SHREVEPORT, La. -

Three suspects in a shooting that injured a Shreveport man are behind bars this evening following their arrest by Shreveport Police.

Just before 12:30 p.m. on August 1, 2013, Shreveport Police were called to the 400 block of Egan Street relative to a reported shooting.

Upon officer's arrival at the scene, contact was made with the victim, 25 year old Marcus Mathis who was suffering a single gunshot wound to the hip area.  Mathis was subsequently transported to LSUHSC with injuries considered to be non life-threatening.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives were summoned to the scene of the shooting, immediately initiating an investigation.  Information gathered during preliminary investigation revealed Mathis, while at a home in the 400 block of Egan Street, was apparently engaged in a verbal dispute of an unknown nature involving subjects who arrived at the home driving a black Ford Crown Victoria.  During the dispute, one subject inside the sedan reportedly exited the vehicle and began firing shots, one of which is believed to have struck Mathis.  It is undetermined at this point if Mathis exchanged fire with the shooters.

Subjects inside the vehicle fled the scene immediately following the shooting but were quickly spotted by police responding to the scene.  Upon officer's detection of the alleged shooter's car, a subsequent vehicle pursuit ensued during which time, two of the vehicle's four occupants fled the sedan on foot near the intersection of Forest Avenue at Creswell Road.  The driver and a single passenger remained inside the vehicle continuing their attempts to elude officers, allegedly tossing a weapon from the vehicle in the process.

The pursuit came to an abrupt halt when the driver of the suspect vehicle crashed into an unsuspecting motorist who was traveling along West 75th Street and St. Vincent Avenue.  Following the collision, the suspect driver and passenger fled the sedan on foot abandoning their vehicle in the roadway.  A brief foot pursuit followed at which time both suspects were taken into custody.

The driver of the vehicle struck by the suspects car was an elderly male whose name has not been released.  The man, however was transported to a local hospital with only minor injuries.

Police took a third suspect into custody near the 400 block of Gilbert Drive after a police K-9 tracked the man to a detached garage where he was found hiding.

A fourth suspect involved in the caper remains outstanding; however authorities are confident his capture in imminent.

In all, police recovered two weapons believed used during the shooting along with an ammunition magazine belonging to a third weapon.  Authorities arrested 27 year old Brandon Lee, along with 24 year old Jakari Lee and 19 year old Tavonte Polk.  Polk faces charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Resisting an Officer.  Brandon Lee faces charges of Convicted Felon in possession of a firearm, while Jakari Lee has been charged with felony Flight in a vehicle.  All three men were subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Much investigation remains to be done in the case as investigators are working to identify and apprehend the fourth suspect believed involved in the shooting. Persons with information about this crime is urged to contact Caddo Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
