DUBACH, La. -

He's not very talkative, but Trevor, 15, loves to be active.

"I like to play all sports, go fishing, hunting; things like that," he said.

He also loves horses. Trevor said he was around them when he was young, before he went into foster care. But really, he just likes to be outside.

"When you're indoors, you barely have anything to do. When you're outdoors you have plenty enough to do. So it's kind of boring for me to be inside."

When he has to be indoors, Trevor doesn't mind being in a classroom. He just started high school Friday and he already has a plan for his future.

"When I get out of high school, I either want go to the Army Reserve or if I don't go to the Army Reserve I want to do carpentry. Go to college for carpentry."

Trevor wants help from a permanent family to get there.

"It would be better for me to leave my past behind and restart with a new family."

He said he wants parents who will take care of and nurture him and lay down a solid foundation for the rest of his life.

"What I want is for me and my new family to be really, really close."

Trevor, like so many children in our area, is currently up for adoption. If you would like to learn more about him or the other children in the adoptive program, call the Department of Children and Family Services at (318)676-7100.
